Editorial policy
Northern Music Review aims to be clear about what is fact, what is interpretation and what remains uncertain. We explain our reasoning, correct meaningful errors and keep editorial judgment separate from commercial arrangements.
Accuracy and interpretation
We check factual statements against appropriate material before publication and review details such as titles, credits and terminology with care. Musical interpretation is not a fact merely because it sounds confident; we present it as a reading, explain the listening cues behind it and acknowledge reasonable alternatives.
Independence
Editorial decisions belong to the publication. A commercial relationship does not buy a favourable view, a guaranteed mention or control over an editorial conclusion. If a relationship could reasonably affect how a piece is read, we make that relationship clear.
Corrections
If a reader identifies a material error, we assess the point and amend the relevant passage when warranted. We aim to make significant corrections visible and to distinguish them from routine edits for spelling or clarity. Send correction details through the Contact page.
Partners and illustrations
Paid, supplied or otherwise arranged partner material is labelled so readers can distinguish it from independent editorial work. Some illustrations may be AI-generated; where an illustration is AI-generated, that fact is identified alongside it. Illustrations are not presented as documentary evidence.
